I spend an awful lot of time worrying about things like polonium 210, because we live in a world where men feel they can disregard all rules in the pursuit of their aims. After all, who is going to confront an international power on the poisioning of some troublesome journalists and a former spy? The collateral damage isn't worth worrying over. But I digress, and I need to stop worrying that one day I'll die from radiation sickness. (Because I've been afraid of that since I was about ten years old, I kid you not. I was born in the eighties.)

More cheerfully, I'm almost finished with Christmas shopping. Though I am distinctly missng one or two people and I have no earthly idea what to do for them. Actually I have a tentative plan and I need to get on that. Friday is my deadline I'm setting. What do you get for someone whose world is so wide? What do you get for someone you just met? What do you get for someone who has enough to money to get anything they want already? These are my conundrums. I also just realized I completely forgot someone's present. Oops.

Anyhow, I've been quite diligent about shopping for other people and doing my Christmas giving to projects like Child's Play. Incidentally, in the time between Thanksgiving and today, those gamers have raised almost half a million dollars. Who said we're lazy slackers who kill people with our cars because we can't tell the difference between video games and reality? Uh huh. Bring it on.

If your idea of charity is buying gifts for overworked and underpaid social workers in red states like Texas, that's also a good charity. Hahah. It won't save your soul though, I should let you know up front. When I was a child, we always had to write letters to Santa at school. Mine were always a cause for concern from my instructors, as I often asked for adult things in between the dream of Nintendo and constant requests for a non-nuclear future. In the spirit of many a wasted elementary school hour, and the past several hours of calls that gave me headaches beyond compare, here's my Christmas wish list just barely grounded in reality:

- What else do I need to be in order to be King? The Crown of King Elessar seems like a good place to start. Since they are out of those nice shiny daggers, I could go for one of those leaf brooches.

- more Wearable Sculpture, and Kythryne is even offering gift certificates now. I love shiny objects of all kinds, so shiny objects are always welcome.

- I can't afford this painting by Canty but I still love it. My fabulous LJ friend Kryztof draws some lovely pictures of the ladies, and I would kill to have some of that hanging up in my home to go along with his awesome book that I bought last year. Nightwitch, La Reaper Severa, Bookish and hitgirl are my favorites.

- I have a long Amazon list of numerous books, DVDs and other bits of the world that catch my eye. I really want an mp3 player, but I haven't yet talked myself into one despite many an opportunity. Actually I need an mp3 player so whenI get off the phone I can tune out the sounds of my office.

- Who wants to buy me a pony? Come on, you know you want to. Better yet, a whole team of polo ponies! Hahahah.

- Thanks to a certain someone who is awesome beyond words, I've fallen head over heels for Superbad's 'Holidays on a Pirate Ship' scent. Soaps, lotions, especially bubble bath/bath bombs, and all other such products are always welcome. I'm currently very enamoured of soaps from Villainess, scrubs from Isle of Eden, and moisturizers from Callisto. I never say no to a bath product, and I've met precious few I didn't like.

- Honest to God, I really always do need socks and underwear. I always lose them. (No, the underwear gets lost in the laundry or in my closet, or stolen by my roommate, not anything so exciting as what you might be thinking.) I have a pair of socks with the Stanford logo that make me immensely happy.

- Proving you can find anything you need on the internet if you just do enough work with Google, I found The Breakfast Tray store. I'm enamored of this wooden model and the adjustable acrylic model. Thank you, intarweb. My laptop is just too heavy for my lap.
