Sunlight comes down, gold-white and the sky is blue over my head while I walk down the street. If I step just right, my feet land exactly in the middle of the cobblestones. I'm sitting at computer #5, so I can see out the open door where the traffic rushes by and the trams surge on electric lines. The air is cool and bright, the radio softly playing beside me.

I have a list of people to send postcards to now, all over the States. Before my afternoon class with Jiri, I think I'll walk down to the Castle and look around. Jiri is one of my favorite teachers at Charles. He smiles almost constantly, wrote a dictionary and takes such delight in explaining odd linguistic points to us. Jiri has a great voice, and I would go to class just to listen to him. We have a second Czech language teacher, Jitka. She is apparently the best teacher in the country, and fiercely sought after. Having her teach for the UT program is a major accomplishment.

I bought a shirt at Kenvelo yesterday, sought of a Czech version of the Gap or something. It was easier to buy a new shirt than do laundry yesterday.

Last night I slept for a long time. The nightmares didn't stay after I woke, so I couldn't tell you why I woke sweating and gasping. I don't really like sharing a room, especially with someone that I don't know well. I crave privacy like nothing else. Maybe I'll check into a hotel for the weekend.

We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.

Hehe, oh I bet it must be a pain to try and skateboard on cobbles. Heheh. *evil grin* Poor kids.

Nice that they take the time to keep the bricks. There is a lot of restoration work happening in Prague right now, and it makes me glad to see the care and effort put into it.

I'm glad you're enjoying my scatterbrained posts. Virtual vacation courtesy of Internet U Keplera. :D

I love that quote from Oscar Wilde! I came across your name and added you to my friends. Thanks for sharing your thoughts or travel abroad news. Makes me want to look into a similar postgraduate study abroad in Paris or another city in France. Take care and hope your nightmares become less of a problem.

Studying abroad is probably one of the greatest experiences one can have. It is just so fun and exciting. I have a friend currently studying in Lyon on summer exchange with a university there.

Thanks for the kind words. I think I have so many nightmares because my bed is so damn uncomfortable. :P Damn leftover Soviet buildings.

I briefly visited Paris on three different times. But the longest stay was for a little over a month, unfortunately.Definitely think I would enjoy a longer stay.

Your friend staying in Lyon, did he/or she enroll directly through the university or through a program?

I believe my university (UT-Austin) has some kind of exchange program with the university in Lyon. It's similar to the Prague program. What we do is pay tutiton through our home university, and pay whatever fees to the university abroad. It works out nicely, and you get credit for the classes.

Yes, I should look into something similar with our university system. I did know someone that did a direct enrollment through one of the French schools. Lots of paper was involved - bureaucracy and all. But she saved money and was able to take classes with other French students.

I have posted before about Slinky Planet, I love yer writing and yer stories of Prague make me long to be in Eastern Europe again.

I'm adding you to my friend's list if that's alright with you.
