Got my haircut today, by a lovely blonde woman in a salon quite near Kolej Komenskeho. It was pretty quiet since it was early this morning, but I hear that later in the day, the Russian working girls come down. I feel quite good. I have bangs! For the first time in a decade! Wow. It's Uma-Thurman-from-Pulp-Fiction hair. Fifties as hell and so much fun.

Ate lunch at the Globe and did a lot of walking round the city. Purchased new books, one a collection of younger writers and one book by Eva Svankmajera, wife & collaborator of Jan Svankmajer. She does a lot of Surrealist art and writing.

Went to this amazing store to buy a present for Hana, and saw quite an interesting thing. I watched this young blonde in Gucci heels and a DNKY shirt walk around pointing while her suave Russian mafia sugar daddy collection baskets of soap, lotion, candles, oils, bottles, etc. The women working behind the counter were laughing behind their hands. The man dropped alomst six thousand crowns on soap. (Almost $200) Sheesh.

Going to Radost in a little while. Should be much fun. Oh, and if you've requested a postcard, it should be on the way soon....

Hehe, I feel so groovy with this hair! And I'm willing to bet I look exactly like my grandmother right now. :D

Hurrah for bangs! I'd forgotten how cool they were.

Jan Svankmajer is married? I think I may cry. . .

Does Ms. Svankmajera have any books translated into English?

Oh don't cry Daina. Eep! Yes, Ms. Svankmajerova has a couple books translated. I saw two yesterday in the Globe. If you can't find them in the States, let me know and I will pick you up one here.
