So far the things that make me happiest about Netflix are:

- I can watch these Zhang Yimou films I've never been able to rent before like Ju Dou and To Live. Several years ago I rented Raise the Red Lantern and was floored by it. It's a brilliant film and worth watching.

- I can also watch the entire run of Babylon 5 again. My mother and I watched it often, and of the many sci-fi series that scrambled to fill the gap behind Star Trek: The Next Generation, I really did like this one best. It had more weird, and stranger aliens I think.

I had weird, weird dreams again. (I blame reading The Island of Doctor Moreau right before bed.) Someone once told me you're not supposed to feel pain in your dreams, but I do. I remember touching the gaping wound in my thigh, and trying to pull loose the swath of blood soaked cotton pressed into it. It was stuck in the congealing blood, and I screamed with a pain so acute I felt like I was going to faint. The memory of it is making me twitchy and anxious. I woke abruptly, thankfully.

Once, a long long time ago, maybe 1999 or 2000, I had a dream where I died on the steps of the UT Tower. I remember everything about the dream with a clarity I rather wish I didn't have.

Most of the things people have told me about dreams don't seem to be true. I've certainly felt pain, seen color, etc. I'm not sure where those theories come from.

I'm back for now. They sent me home early, because Carnival is this week and the hotel rates were suddenly insane. I'm going back down there in March, though.

I've been using Netflix to catch up on British series that I consistently miss when they're on BBCAmerica. The range of things you can get from Netflix really is quite good, and as far as I know they don't have a right-wing social agenda like Blockbuster. And I've been buying way fewer DVDs, though I do have the first two seasons of Bab5 so far, and the nifty 7 season box set of Buffy.

I didn't know we're not supposed to feel pain in dreams. I know pain can cause dreams, though... one time I had really bad cramps start while I was asleep, and I dreamt someone had broken into the house and stabbed me repeatedly in the gut. Fun times.

Someone once told me that if you die in your dreams you die in real life. Urban Myth. I remember one dream I fell a long way and expected the dream to shift before I hit the concrete floor below but nope! Hit it smack hard, can still feel the cold today. Dreamt I was in the waiting room of Heaven. It was actually disturbing, white and distant with "angels" without wings typing at computers. No one seemed to have enough time to notice us new arrivals.

I also have had major arguments with Rhonda while completely asleep. I've woken up to her standing by the bed and wondered why she was so upset!
