lunch time

I need food. Food. Caffiene too, preferably in the form of coffee but I could settle for an iced tea. (I tell you, that is one reason why I may have a home in the south until I die. Iced tea, and plenty of it. Everywhere you go.) There is a Luby's nearby, or I could go get sushi. I could just go buy random stuff from Whole Foods. I'm craving too many disparate foods right now.

I get food cravings all the time, too. Last night it was the peanut and broccoli soba noodles that I still haven't managed to make, despite acquiring the soba... I was feeling healthy and virtuous (and not in the mood for something heavy) after mowing our lawn. But then I remembered the Chinese BBQ pork recipe in the latest Cook's Illustrated, and I thought how good it would be with the noodles, except I had no pork butt in the house and after mowing the lawn I wasn't in a fit state to go shopping to get any.

BBQ pork will be had today, though, and I can see about finding a recipe for that clear orange dipping sauce that they have in Thai places, because for some reason I'm craving that too, even though I have nothing to dip in it.

I'm a firm believer in indulging food cravings... Whole Foods and Central Market are great for instant gratification of the "I didn't know I wanted that, but I must have it now" impulse. =)
