When I was very small, I used to try to stop time. I thought if I just willed enough, clenched my hands and dug my nails into my palms, if I just wanted it enough that I could freeze the world into a moment. Every now and then, I find myself doing the same thing. Yesterday was like that. A perfect azure sky and weather in the mid seventies, towels on white rocks, the cold blue-green water of Lake Travis, swimming naked, floating in the small waves, copper colored lizards, and the sort of perfect happiness of doing absolutely nothing productive other than working on my tan.

I would take mental "pictures" of the world around me at perfect moments like that. I figure that way I can bring up the images and feelings whenever I wanted to later on.

That sounds beautiful. I know it is kind of scheduling in advance but I have 4/23 off. Are you training then or would you be availible to go to the lake?

The only thing I have that day is yoga at 7:30pm. I am totally game for that day.

I have thought way too much on the subject of stopping time. I used to dream of it all the time until the details kept crowding all enjoyment of this fantasy. Then, I thought, all the "stopped" people around me: would they continue to age? What about if their eyeballs are open, would they dry out? And if I wanted to stop time because I was late, I realized that all of the cars would be stopped and it would take forever (except that no time is passing for anyone else) to get around all of them, and in some cases, impossible.

Once again, over-analysis of a dream killed it.
