The drive itself is around eight hours. We were very lucky that it rained at home last night, so the majority of the drive was under cloudy skies and not broiling. Louisiana is muggy and flat, two things I do not approve of one bit. We saw nine dead armadillos on the way. I ate kolaches from Ellinger, and there was much joy. Now I am here at the Sheraton, hanging out with Rach until I can register and pick up my packet.

I do not believe there are such things as living armadillos, just dead ones on the side of the road.
