The end of Tony Soprano's story

After a thoroughly tasty meal at Zen, I finally watched the last episode of the Sopranos.
The ending was just so full of foreboding. The minute I saw it was a diner, I started expecting a bloodbath. The utter silence and black screen made me think for a moment that my DVR had suddenly died. I almost shouted. The silence was defeaning. I was furious.
Mike made a point, from something he read on slashdot. In the first episode of the season, Bobby and Tony have that conversation on the lake. The one where he says "I guess you never hear the one that gets you." There was a flashback to that conversation in the second to last episode, briefly.
What if Tony never heard the shot that got him?
I think that is what it is. I just wish I knew what happened to Meadow and AJ and Carmela. It makes sense though. The whole story has always been Tony's story.
Everyone else's death was a hail of sound. Even Phil, getting capped at the gas station and having a car crush his head. That was especially grim. I was sort of glad though, because he fucking had Silvio shot. Seeing Silvio in the hospital was so strange and sad.
The scenes with the FBI agent were awesome. I thought that was such a good touch, about how you get sucked into a world even when you're fighting against it for years and years.
Oh Sopranos. I miss you already.
In other news, I got lots of beads in the mail. Mmm beads. Shiny, shiny beads.
