those five words I hear you say

Most favorite of the memes. If you feel like playing, leave a comment random or otherwise and I will come up with some questions for you. I reserve the right to ask you cracked out questions if I can't think of anything interesting.
1. What do you like best about where you live?
So many things. The very best thing of all is the sky. Hard to explain, but there is nowhere else on earth that has such a sky. There's also the beautiful geography of the Hill Country, the live oak trees and pecans, the wildflowers in spring, the lakes, Barton Springs, the University of Texas, the Alamo Drafthouse, Amy's ice cream, Karbey queso and Magnolia mud, breakfast tacos at 2am, kegs of Shiner at college parties, an abundance of Tex-Mex, Chez Nous, Korea House, the bats under the bridge, the Texas history museum, the big old houses, Bevo, and being the only city I know where a homeless transvestite runs a credible campaign for mayor.
2. You have a gift with descriptions. Has that always been?
I like to think so. Writing is something I love, and sometimes I am good at it. I am more talented at descriptions, reviews, character sketches and those sorts of things than moving plots along so I have tended to focus my attention in such a way.
3. What's your favorite force of nature? (Storms, tornados, lightning, etc.)
The wind, for sure. I love the wind. I love the way it sweeps the sky, the lift, the sound and taste of it moving. I like to fly kites and run through the park. It makes the world seem to move faster.
4. Do you have any guilty food pleasures?
Oh yes. Chips, certainly. So bad for you, but I can eat an entire bag. I also really like hot dogs. I don't care what is in them. They are delicious when covered in mustard and onions. (Or wrapped in bacon and fried and covered in sour cream somtimes.)
5. Is there a habit or talent that you wish that you had? What would you do with it if you did?
I wish I could sing. (as I'm sure most of my friends wish too) I sing all the time, and would continue to do so. Just without being so off key.

Maybe it was earlier, actually, because when I was 4 I wrote a song, "I have a little cat, his name is Harry, and I pet him very gently, gently, gently, gently..." well, it's no Tolkien, but I was 4. ;)

those five words I hear you say
Date: 2007-07-03 10:38 pm (UTC)Severely depressed. Part of me wishes that I was dead. I really hate my life. Being with my family (except for my husband) just makes me more depressed, as does my job and other responsibilities.
2. Is there a habit or talent you wish you had?
Organization - I cannot get it together. I would like to have a clean house and be able to find a place for everything and have everything in its place.
I wish I could write.
3. What books/movies/music/art have you seen recently that you would recommend?
Books:
- Any Calvin and Hobbes book (an obsession) - Adorable.
Eros and Psyche subcategory:
- Eros and Psyche by Holly Woodward - I love, love love this story.
- The Princess and the God by Doris Orgel
- Psyche by Louis Couperus
- Tale of Cupid and Psyche: An Illustrated History by Sonia Cavicchioli (I got this book on eBay for much less than the cover price) - This is a cross over to the Art
Music:
- Anything by The Clash (yet another obsession)
Art:
Movies: Pan's Labyrinth
4. Is it better to have loved and lost, or to have never loved at all?
Never to have loved at all. My greatest fears is abandonment.
5. What's your perfect meal?
Cocktail: Coconut Martini
Appetizer: Summer Rolls and Mussels
Salad: Som Thum (Thai Green Papaya Salad)
Entree: Bi Bim Bap (Korean - I don't know the translation) and Pad Thai
An appropriate wine or beer to go with dinner.
Dessert: Red Velvet Cake (the works: cream cheese filling, vanilla frosting with lots of flowers)
Frangelico (on the rocks)
Alternatively: Barbecue shrimp, double dough pizza with eggplant and Florentine pizza and Tiramisu (from local restaurant), a nice red wine (I can't remember it's name) and an after dinner drink to compliment the tiramisu.
And now I am hungry... but I can't eat.
