I'm just not sure I can be here right now.

The recent brouhaha makes my head hurt. It makes me angry and annoyed and upset, and so very tired. I have enough going on in the waking world to not need another source of stress. So for the time being I am not going to post much right here. I will continue to read other people's journals and comment. No, I haven't quite decided what to do.

I was turned down for a job I would excel at today, and I am sort of heartbroken. Mostly because I misspelled the word separate, and added an extra comma in a sentence. (Yes, there was a grammar & spelling test.) It is sort of depressing to know a college degree, years of experience and damned good work can all be undone by a comma.

Right now I am thinking about adopting a cat. I found an organization in town that rescues animals from the local shelter before they are euthanized. They have some older cats that need homes, include one who is at least ten. His elderly owner passed away, and the cat was left to wander the streets. I really want to take him home and make his remaining years happy ones.

I really want to cry, for a lot of reasons. But my left eyelid is swollen and painful, and I'm afraid that just isn't an option right now.

Damn about that job.

Were you expected to get a perfect score? Even 50 year veteran secretaries are bound to miss a comma now and then.

Call me if you need to.

Why yes. I must always get perfect scores because I am after all pretty damn perfect. :P For heaven's sake, Word has spell check!

I'm sorry about the stress and the job, Amanda. You wouldn't think one little misspelled word and an extra comma would be such a big deal. I hope something else turns up that will be even better for you.

Especially when you consider any documentation I create would be in digital form, where spellcheck exists! Hah! that makes about as much sense as your agency's maternity policy. Blah!

Sorry to hear about the job opportunity. I was curious as to if you would consider working at an animal hospital? Banfield (?) is hiring a front desk coordinator right now. I don't know what the pay is, but let me know if you are interested for more info. (moonglow2_99@yahoo.com).

*hugs*

I'm sorry about the job. =(

It's brave of you to consider an older cat, because of course you'll fall in love with him, even knowing ahead of time that his potential time with you is that much shorter. But yes, a cat who lost one loving owner totally deserves to find another.

I've mostly tried not to think/read about the LJ crap, because it's just depressing and frustrating all around. Not watching the news sometimes helps, too.

Gah. Sorry you got turned down, babe. :P

Nobody spells separate correctly. Nobody. Not without spell check. That's completely bitchy.

out of innate curiousity, is the rescue group you found called Rescuties at all, and the cat you're referring to Nod?

He's an older cat whose owner passed away and was wandering the streets being fed by a friend's mom, who we then captured and put in a friend's rescue. He's a very personable cat who needs a home...;)

That is exactly the one! I am just in love with him and almost burst into tears when I read his story. I really hope they let me adopt him.

I can probably help you. I've already chatted with the lady at Rescuties. She'll be emailing you tomorrow. If you like, get my phone number from Mike and let's chat. :)

I's been my experience that so many people applying for posted positions are turned down for the most minor things because, in truth, the hiring person had already chosen who they wanted. Any technicality.

I mean, a comma and a single spelling error?

please.
