I like grocery shopping. Except for when I forget my wallet. Aside from that, the morning has passed peacefully with laundry and a few other minor chores. I'm studiously avoiding serious thought until later, because Melynda, Truong and Tyler left my house in the early hours of the morning on their way to Phoenix. From there, they go on to California and then up Washington and Seattle.

Last night we had our 'last Austin meal' at Curra's on Burnet, only to discover it was the last night for that location as well. Apparently the lease is up and they don't want to hassle with the landlord anymore. I'm crushed. Now the only place to get Curra's is way down south, (erg) or at the North location with all the ambiance of a metal crate. Sadness. We ate a giant bowl of queso, had margaritas, lots of enchiladas and tacos and rice and beans. I took home a slice of cake. We stood outside and had inappropriate conversation.

I really don't want to spend today crying. I feel a bit hollow.

Oklahoma was strange and flat. I am surprised at how small and small town-ish Norman is. The university there is of a comparable size to UT, so I suppose I was expecting more. We did eat good Thai food, and stayed at the Montford Inn, in one of the cottages. It was nicer than a hotel room, secluded and comfortable. The bed was big, and soft with a dozen pillows. The bathroom had an enormous tub I could lay down in, and a walk in shower with two adjustable showerheads. It was paradise, in its way. I want a bathroom like that.

During the trip, I met several of Mike's college friends. They all remind me of guys I knew and hung out with during high school. Montana was alike a more spastic version of Nick, but with an engineering/CS bent instead of theater. HE also reminded me of my best friend James, in his goofy attitude. I don't think I've known anyone willing to eat a bacon cheeseburger sandwiched between halves of a Krispy Kreme donut in a long time.

[livejournal.com profile] melyndabelinda and [livejournal.com profile] frostwalrus are moving away, which both annoys me and makes me happy for them. So this was their "last austin meal" for awhile.

I would be interested to try a Krispy Kreme cheeseburger, but I don't think I would eat the whole thing. A couple of bites tops. My other half loves bacon cheeseburgers and I fear for his arteries.

(I'm sad, too, though.)
