I know I'm going to hell, but I love the way fur looks and feels. I am totally in love with this hat. So beautiful. I want to wrap myself up this coat and move somewhere very cold. It just looks so soft and warm.

(Yes, I know fur is murder and it is cruel to kill animals just for their skins and the world would be so much better if we were all vegan hippies who lived on air, etc, etc, etc. This post is not a commnetary on anything, just an expression of longing for something beautiful and unobtainable in my world. Spare me the lecture. Lecture me on it, and I will ban you.)

One day, when it's mine, I may give you my grandmother's red fox coat. Right now it just lives in my mother's closet. Someone should wear it, and I think you're a lot less likely to get red paint splashed on it there than I am here.

My grandmother had a fur coat too, but I've no idea what she has done with it. I think if I had a fur coat, I would sit around the house petting myself.

I sit around the house petting myself without the fur coat. I am a little hairy, though... :)

that silver grey would go great with your coloring.

Meat is murder.
Cigarettes are bad.
Deodorant rots your brain.
Cars are evil.
Simon & Garfunkel were the best band ever.

[livejournal.com profile] frostwalrus is equally paranoid about the deodorant. You two should trade theories.

The aluminum in deodorant rots your brain, just find the stuff w/o aluminum and you are set!

I was just fake-lecturing. I don't even know if my deodorant has aluminum, I smoke, eat meat, drive a truck, and I'm okay with fur from meat animals. Simon & Garfunkel are pretty good, though.

However, aluminum is probably bad for you.

Wikipedia says:
Aluminum has been established as a neurotoxin.[14] Aluminum chloride, an aluminum salt that is commonly used in antiperspirants, is also commonly used in studies on aluminum-induced neurotoxicity.[15][16][17][18][19] Aluminum itself adversely affects the blood-brain barrier, is capable of causing DNA damage, and has adverse epigenetic effects.

Hence you were not banned. :P I'm curious, has anyone determined how much aluminum gets absorbed from your antiperspirant? I must research. Also, is it just in antiperspirant? Because I only use an antideordant type.

I really am not sure. I've seen enough of what seems to be legit research to be wary of antiperspirants. I only use deodorants anyway, myself, and I think aluminum is just used in the antiperspirants.

I'm actually pretty okay with rabbit fur. I don't know if the businesses that skin rabbits to make soft furry clothing items actually pass the flesh on to businesses that cook rabbits, but they are tasty eats, so theoretically they're not being killed just for their fur.

My mom used to work with a geneticist who as a hobby bred prize-winning bunnies. He didn't care if people were buying them to show or to eat, though he'd be sure people eating them got the mongrels rather than ones that could win prizes. Personally I think it'd be pretty funny to see a bunny competition, especially if they walk the contestants up and down a show ring like they do for dogs. =P

And if you get into knitting or crocheting, you can make things with alpaca or angora, and then sit around petting yourself anyway. =)

I agree completely about the rabbit fur. I have a rabbit coat, and given that it was made somewhere in Asia I wouldn't be surprised if the rabbits were eaten as well.

Besides, rabbits are mostly vermin in my part of the world, along with prairie dogs. The only reason we don't make prairie dog fur coats is they're not as soft as rabbits (and carry plague).

There's an alpaca farm up the highway from me. Alpacas tend to get less soft as they get older, but they're still pretty damn cuddly even when they're old and grumpy like me! (And the babies are the cutest little things EVER!)

I have som efur from my grandmother. It has been around longer dead than alive. In a way I think it would be insulting to not wear it from time to time because then all of it would have been in vain.

It's so rarely codl enough around here, but I still want to go skating with that glorious muff! (Gotta make the long flared coat and wool hat to go with it all though.)
