The Drafthouse, now open on 6th in the old Ritz building, is having another Lord of the Rings marathon and feast. It's on November 25th, which is the exact same date as last year. Mike and I are going, because how could we not? It is a most excellent place to celebrate the day we met. This time he won't have to cut in line because I'm going to make him get up super early to get down to the line, hahah. So, so, so excited.

The Alamo Drafthouse is possibly the single best reason to be in Austin, ever. :)

Sweet. I have been re-reading the Silmarillion and going through a general Tolkien phase, so this is excellent timing. :)

Thanks for the heads up, since I had no idea about the new location or the marathon/feast.

Glad to share! I've been to the feast every year they have done it, and it has been such a spectacular experience each time. I'm excited to see the new space too.

If you buy your tickets online, you have the option of signing up for the email news, which comes about once a week and has all the scoops on cool stuff.

That sounds so magical, I wish they had something like that in Los Angeles. I tear up at the Ride of the Rohirrim every time...how wonderful to cry with mead and fellow geeks!

It is such an experience, the Alamo Drafthouse. Especially this event, for so many of us here.

(I cry there too.)

I love it! I'm so glad you guys get to go again. Every year you do I get more and more jealous. Damn NYC being so far from Austin!!!

Yep, still with the WoW. It's a cheap past time. I'm on the Elune server.

Hello! I was sent over here by [livejournal.com profile] coyotegoth because I've just moved to Austin. (He and I know each other from NYC and a D.C. protest, all via LJ, of course.)

So, howdy!

Welcome to Texas, land of delicious breakfast tacos, bizarre weather, and beautiful skies. What moved you to Austin?

My husband ([livejournal.com profile] freak1c) and I both grew up in Texas, and all of our family is here. I was in NYC for 10 years, for college and then after. I'll always love New York, but the cost of living, lack of space, and distance from family was really starting to hurt. Plus, we just craved change, and Austin seemed like a natural choice.

And, oh! Those Texas skies of my childhood, still in my dreams. I'm glad to be back.

How long have you been in Austin?

Twenty years this year. My parents moved back so my mother could finish college at UT. I was actually born up in Amarillo, and we lived in Lubbock for awhile.

I love New York but the lack of open space would really get to me I think.

Welcome back home!
