I slept far too late this morning. I'm not sure why. I woke up at 9:30am, confused and disoriented. I've felt sort of off, dizzy tired and sometimes out of it during the past few days. I don't know what the hell it is. Anyhow, I left the house to run a couple errands. I accomplished the purchase of holiday cards! They are so much easier than wedding announcements. More fun too. I found some very pretty ones.

Barnes & Noble here is doing something really fantastic. They ask customers to buy a children's book to donate and have stacks at the register. They send these books to women's prisons around the state. There, the women record themselves reading the book to their children. Then B&N sends the book and the recording to the children. The cute teenage boy at the register said they have raised 900 books in two weeks. It's such a brilliant idea. I couldn't help but love it. They had a copy of the Golden Book, The Poky Little Puppy. I remember that book, so I had to buy it. I hope someone enjoys it.

Last night I made macaroni & cheese from the Luby's cookbook. It was almost perfect. (It doesn't tastes exactly the same, and I can only speculate on the cheese itself as a culprit.) But Mike pronounced it delicious and ate two bowls. I also make brownies in a cupcake pan.

My aunt Tricia is bringing me a bread machine!! I am excited, as this will make dough production for things such as kolache so much easier. She's also bringing recipes! Very nice. Speaking of recipes, I need to find my one for strawberry pie.

I love macaroni and cheese - I always make the oven-baked recipe from Joy of Cooking. Care to share the Luby's recipe?

I like the Alton Brown stovetop mac the best. Stacy and I were at Luby's today and I was talking about the mac n cheese. I think it's Sysco American cheese that makes it special.

I have a good bread machine kolache recipe if you want. I got it off the internet, but at least I can say I've made it.

Oooh, strawberry pie. If you make some, I volunteer to help you eat it. ;^)

I love that idea! The B&N thing. I wonder if they're doing that out here too.
