give me your recs

Alright, I know many of my friendslist are more knowledgeable than me. I love Ghost in The Shell, and Vampire Hunter D. I've watched Lain and I grew up with the original Aeon Flux shorts on Liquid Television. What I want are recommendations for your favorite anime, manga, etc. Tell me. Share! I need things to watch.

Rick suggests Cowboy Bebop and Witch Hunter Robin. I can vouch for the latter... it's like Ghost in the Shell in that it has a mostly-comprehensible plot arc, unlike a lot of anime. Avoid Naruto like the plague. *shudder* Characters that scream all the time, meandering nonsensical plot, etc.

I asked about another one that I only remembered one scene from, and Rick seems to think it was Bleach, but I think what I remember predates when he started recording that one, so I dunno. Trinity Blood wasn't awful... nanotech vampires and crazy-ass churchmen.

ETA: Samurai 7, and Basilisk if you don't mind ninja-type-people, sez Rick. He just keeps coming up with more ideas. And lots of people love Full Metal Alchemist, but everytime I saw part of an ep, the plot seemed to be the same... too much recycling for me.

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a giant robots scifi that starts out comprehensible and becomes progressively less so. S-Cry-ed is "slightly scifi, slightly martial arts, guy with superpowers thing" according to Rick. Sheesh, you've found the one and only topic where he starts talking and won't shut up. =P
