water and winter

We ate a delicious dinner at Z'Tejas and made reservations for our wedding dinner. Now I just need to decide what kind of cake to order. I know the internet wants to help me make my choice! Here are the choices I am currently considering, from a local restaurant that makes superbly delicious desserts.

Lemon Rosemary Cake - Four layer lemon and rosemary cake with cream cheese & lemon curd filling. Topped with cream cheese icing.

Chocolate Decadence Cake - Four Layers of dense chocolate cake brushed with seedless raspberry preserves, filled with mocha mousse, then covered with a chocolate ganache.

Orange Chiffon Cake - Four layered orange cake with orange fluff frosting.

Maida’s Cake - Light flourless chocolate cake filled with sweet vanilla cream and generously frosted with a fluffy mocha mousse.

Italian Cream Cake - Four fabulous layers of traditional Italian cream cake, lightly flavored with Amaretto, filled and topped with rich cream cheese frosting and sprinkled with flaked coconut.

Mocha Fudge Torte - Rich, flourless chocolate torte, a touch of espresso, and baked with light crunch. Served with raspberry puree and a heaping dollop of homemade whipped cream.

Chocolate Toffee Gateau - Chocolate on a toffee and butter pecan crust topped with chocolate shavings and whipped cream

The hot water is out for the whole complex. The gas has come back, so we have heat. And the stove. But no hot water until tomorrow morning they say. Gah. I couldn't bring myself to take an ice cold shower. I am a wuss. At least it is warm now.

We did my last minute Christmas shopping. I was fiendishly clever at the soap store, and promise to give almost all of it away. I bought a book for myself. I found a couple nifty books for my infant cousin. One is done along the lines of Goodnight, Moon but is called Goodnight, Texas. Yes, I'm going to be that person. Always buying children *gasp* books! I also placed an order this weekend for a very, very cool present for my friends Nikki and Dan, soon to be having a baby. (It's a surprise!)

I am with Alainn. I hate lemon cake. Anything but that.

Glad your heat is back on! Gah.

Good night Texas. I found it at a B&N. :D They had lots and lots of Texas children's books. If you can't get enough, let me know and I will buy them out for you. :D

The Lemon Rosemary is my very favorite of their cakes... although lately they've added a distressing amount of either yellow or green food coloring to the icing, so if you get that one, personally I'd ask for no food coloring so it could have a wedding-ish look on the outside.

Italian Cream Cake would look wedding-ish and is very tasty, but the icing is kind of overwhelmingly sweet.

Orange Chiffon is the only dessert I've had at Chez Zee that I've not liked... the orange part is too airy; I didn't like the mouth feel of it. But I may be holding a grudge because I tried it on a day they were out of Lemon Rosemary. =)

I'm that person, too, buying books for my nephew. Seems like he's otherwise spoiled with toys and way too many clothes.

I need to get Goodnight, Texas!

It is incredibly delicious, and such a well blended delicious thing! Mmmm cake. Chez Zee has super awesome desserts. It's worth going there just for dessert. The rest of the food is pretty good, and they have awesome creme brulee french toast, but it is really all about dessert.
