[Poll #1166730]

I seem unable to sleep more than a few hours at a time, for no apparent reason. This after spending three or four days sleeping fourteen or sixteen hours out of twenty four. It makes for weird days. I'm up at four in the morning, asleep in the afternoon and always sort of off kilter. The good side is that I seem to get a lot of work done between 4:00am and 8:00am for some unknown reason. Today the headache won't let up and I'm tired of that.

Mike & I played video games at the home of his boss James last night, along with a couple of his coworkers. I played through the first three Super Mario Worlds without stopping in about an hour and change. Later we played some Super Smash Brothers, which is ideally suited to button mashing.

Right after Easter, [livejournal.com profile] brienze and I poked around in Sur La Table. I picked up an egg shaped cake pan since it was 40% off. This morning I was staring at it while stirring my coffee, contemplating marshmallow filled cakelettes. The more I think about it, the more I think I could pull it off.

Things have been a bit strange lately. I told Sarah I don't have a biological clock for children, but I seem to have some inner clock for houses. It's in full swing. I blame [livejournal.com profile] alteredhistory and [livejournal.com profile] freznor, who are moving into a lovely new house. I've found myself looking at real estate listings in search of a place with a nice kitchen and a giant bath tub. All other features are negotiable. I've also noticed most listings have awkward photos.

Law enforcement has finally raided the fundamentalist polygamist compound out in West Texas. I think we've all been holding our breath for years, waiting on this one and hoping it wouldn't end up like that mess outside Waco. From time to time, it would crop up in the news as an aside. The church bought the land under false pretenses, sending people out who claimed it would be a hunting retreat for executives. A local journalist busted them after noting the curious and secretive behavior of construction crews working on the land. I am glad I'm not having to work on that case.

The headache is back. Time to go lay down on the sofa with Koshka.

funny, i'm also in the "make houses, not babies" mode. unfortunately, my house-oggling tendencies have been severely foiled by the fact that we know we're relocating next summer to another city, but after that, all bets are off. =)

and oh yes, kitchen and bathtub. i would kill for a bathtub i actually fit comfortably into, and one that doesn't have the "ew, i don't know what's been in here before" factor. stupid apartments.

also, something with a huge yard and lots of trees, for me. i'm willing to compromise on distance from major centers for that.

I have known for a long time that I prefer houses to babies. Our house is our baby right now. I was picky about kitchens and we got a great one. Bathtub is bigger than the one in the apt., but it could be better. The shower/tub area still isn't clean to my satisfaction, but I don't know that it was ever cleaned well by the previous owners. Work in progress.

I am also glad about the polygamist thing. Hopefully at least a little good will come out of that situation.
