Karen's off at some party, with her new object of flirtation. They played chess and backgammon til 4am. Quiet evening for me. Watched one of my favorite movies, The Godfather, an incredible episode of Iron Chef, and now I have Much Music on. It's their version of Headbangers' Ball, with Danzig videos and all this other stuff. I used to stay up late on Saturday nights to watch Rikki Rachtman and White Zombie videos at Tracy's house. So this is nice. The light is even almost the same.

I like music videos. A pity so many of them are so terrible. The video has such potential. I've always wanted to have a project where one song is chosen, and a half dozen videos are produced around that song by different directors. The possibilities are wonderous and wide.

A cover of "Shock the Monkey" by Coal Chamber? This is entertaining in a really bizarre way.

The video for NIN's "Deep" is downright creepy.

MTV is showing a recent Depeche Mode concert, and they're playing my favorite song. I bought Exciter a couple weeks ago, and I like it. Listen to it in the car.

Should go to bed so I'll wake up in the morning in time for Mass.

don't say you need me
don't say you love me

I remember when MTV first burst on the scene, and we would watch it for hours, video after video. When a new video came out, everyone talked about it. Then MTV became this wasteland of reality programming and game shows. I gave up on MTV.

I like your idea of having various videos made of one song. Can I pick the song?

Yeah, I loved MTV as a kid. All those videos, the Top 21 Countdown with Adam Curry.. then they started having "regular" programming and I quit watching. MTV2 is nice because it's all music. It's probably the only reason I let my roommates keep this digital cable. ;)

What song would you pick for a multi-video project?

I am not sure. It would have to be a song you could hear over and over again, like the song in Run Lola Run. Maybe Wonder Wall by Oasis? Maybe a song by David Bowie. To make it a little less repetitious, you might have different videos of the same song performed by different groups. Hmm, the possibilities are endless.

See, this is fascinating stuff. There is so much to be done with it. I find it hard to believe that no one has attempted something like this before.

One of my favorite David Bowie songs is "Scary Monsters." I'd like to see what could be done with that one. I like the idea of having other people perform the songs too. Excellent... we'll take the art world by storm with this one. *mwuhahahha* Oops, I wasn't supposed to do the sinister laugh quite so soon.
