From a review for this hotel:
the hotel itself was quite nice... BUT ! its next door to a pig slaughter house and the squeals from the pigs being killed is very audible. it didn't bother me , but if you are squeamish or a vegetarian then don't stay here. other than that, the hotel itself is great

Seriously. A slaughterhouse?

Maybe I've become one of these urban liberal elites I've heard so much about, but hearing the death squeals of pigs would not exactly encourage me to drift off to a peaceful slumber.

Not just the sound, but I imagine there's some pungent odor as well... eesh.

OH my god...who could be okay with staying in a hotel and having to listen to pigs squealing as they await their slaughter, meat eater or not?? JESUS!

There is a steakhouse on 35 just north of Austin that has cows grazing in the field behind it.

My husband and I find this endlessly amusing.

I'm just glad cows can't read.
