goodbye Koshka

Koshka died during the night. I hope the ghost kitty found him quickly so he was not alone. I buried him this morning just after dawn, in his favorite bed with his pink mouse. I covered the grave with long branches of rosemary from our giant bush. Filling a grave is just as hard as digging one.

I miss him so much.

Goodbye Koshka :(. I know I haven't commented much lately, since I've been insanely busy with work and school and really don't even have time to be reading LJ, but I have been following your posts about Koshka.

I'm so sorry he's gone now (at least physically), but I'm glad he was at home.

I'm tearing up... I guess I really know what it's like after losing 4 in the last 3 years. They were all old, and some were no longer living with me. Ms. Kitty was one my family got when I was a kid. She was living with my parents and 17, I think when she died a couple years ago. Mini was back with George's parents, but also 17 when she died earlier this year. Then Monty was 14 when he died in April, and Furball was 15 two years ago. All my sweet old kitties. I miss them lots!

Anyway, sorry for your loss. Hang in there and be sure to get plenty of snuggles from Mike & Pumpkin!

Last night I thought of Koshka and for some reason couldn't stop crying. I couldn't get him out of my mind. I don't think that I "knew" something was wrong, but I was thinking about him, and of you.

I am so sorry, and I hope you feel eight paws upon your bed from now on. He was happy and loved and you gave him the kind of life he deserved, even knowing that this day would come far sooner than if you'd adopted a younger cat, or a kitten. Thank you for everything you've done, even though I know it's hard now.

I am glad to hear he went peacefully and that he was purring even till the end. I wish I could be back in Austin to give you a hug and thank you in person for all you've done for a lonely old cat that only wanted someone to love and to love him back.

I spoke to my mother to relay the news and she also wants to say thank you for giving him the life he deserved at the end.

You are truely a wonderful person, and I am very sorry he had to leave such a wonderful home.

We're still new friends here so I hadn't seen this entry yet. I'm so sorry for your loss - I remember all too well the pain of losing Jack a couple of years ago and have been living with that fear of losing the others all week.
