The engine light is on in my car. I hope something is just loose from having the oil changed two weeks ago. Ugh. Consequently, we couldn't go looking for a Christmas tree today. Mike did get a hair cut, and I waited at Half Price where I found some holiday cards.
Instead of holiday decorating I spent my day writing short pieces on stocking stuffers (which will hopefully earn me a few dollars), playing with beads and watching the cats. Pumpkin is a brat. He alternates between being unconcerned and swatting at Jasmine. It's making me crazy, because he was so laid back with Koshka. We wait and hope.
Also today I made a bracelet and it is an inch too short for my arm. Argh. It's pretty though. Anyone with a tiny wrist want a bracelet of white thread and tiny iridescent beads? It's thin and pretty. Despite being too small for me, it has at least given me ideas for other things.
Somehow I completely forgot to work one of my shifts yesterday. I feel so dumb. I suppose it was the jumble of Thanksgiving stuff and having Mike's parents here all week. Still, I've been working this for weeks and it feels lame to just forget to work.
We switched to AT&T's U-verse service recently. It felt glorious to finally give Time Warner the door. We're paying less, we have more channels, the DVR is better and the internet is reliable. We get this channel called Fine Living Network that shows the original Iron Chef daily, which makes me happy. They have a promo spot set to the tune of "I Think I'm Turning Japanese" that goes:
Is that the Chairman?
Is that cod roe?
Is that some liver?
I'll never know!
...
I'm cooking Japanese, I think I'm cooking Japanese
Like Morimoto!
This tune has been stuck in my head for days and days. The awesomeness is hard to express.

Date: 2008-11-30 04:58 am (UTC)Must remember to talk with you guys about it 'round the beginning of next year about your U-Verse experience. I've been pondering a switch, though I'm honestly pretty happy with TW over the years...*shrugs*

Date: 2008-11-30 05:27 am (UTC)with AT&T:
-better picture quality
-more channels for less money
-faster channel changes
-more responsive, and better designed menu
-30 second skip button on the remote
-four tuners, so no recording collisions
-WiFi built into the modem, so fewer wires
-you can manage your recordings from your computer
note: we don't use a land-line, and I didn't measure the internet speeds, both were fast enough for my purposes.
