threeplusfire: (lemon pie)

robots, pies, assorted

I am thinking about having a small party. Just as an excuse to have some pie, perhaps play some Settlers of Catan. The first person I will invite is [livejournal.com profile] nomic, because he said he will be my new best friend if only I give him some pie. It will be some weekend in March.

Bed Bath & Beyond has a pineapple pillow. I really want it. It's adorably bizarre, and I love pillows.

Roomba maintenance is important. Today I cleaned out the insides of the Roomba, cutting free the hair wrapped around the brushes and blowing out dust. I have also learned that one can clean filters with compressed air, greatly increasing their lifespan and saving money. Now I'm trying to figure out how to hang up the rug outside so I can beat it with a stick. I have the feeling it is full of dust and it is too large to just shake.

So far today I have not been attacked by any spiders.

I am so peeved by Casey, who was not a good sous chef in my opinion. If Carla had not listened to her, I think she would have won the title. Seriously, souffle? who wants to be messing with a souffle on the final competition? That is like all those disastrous quiches in previous seasons. Ugh and cooking beef sous vide? Bleah. Poor Carla, I think she really deserved better than that.

Stefan could have won, but I think his dessert wasn't tasty enough. I agree with the comment about how the plate looked super 80s, presentation wise. He should have made some pralines or something that would have tied it all closer to New Orleans. Overall, I really liked his menu.

Josea's win seemed fair in the context of the evening. He's a hell of a cook. Plus his sous chef shut the hell up and didn't put their stamp all over everything.

The weather is already hot. Yuck. I would like to buy some rain, please. Though I have successfully rid the side of the house of weeds. Now to work on the area around the gate. I am contemplating ripping up those funny looking asparagus fern plants. I'm not fond of them, or the big spiky thing right by the windows. It's also getting close to time when we should plant a tree in the yard. I want to do some reading and research first.

Mmmmmm, robot pie.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I am so tempted to paint the roomba and scooba to look like pies...

[identity profile] norda.livejournal.com 2009-02-28 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Two things come quickly to mind...

1] When I was a kid, we had a tasty treat from time to time called Scooter Pies. It's not much of a stretch to go to scooba pies.

2] A roomba painted like a crosshatched apple pie is yet another lost opportunity for the props and design department at PUSHING DAISIES.

Adorable! I think the only pillows I've seen that beat it for sheer bizarreness are the plush sushi cushions I saw for sale at the last Brooklyn Botanical Garden cherry-tree festival.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly! I was thinking of those sushi pillows too.

Oh my god, I wanted one of those so badly, but day-um they're expensive.

Still, there's something oddly comforting about resting your head on a pillow that looks like a slab of salmon.

I would love to come visit you and have some pie.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I will let you know when I settle on a more firm plan!

[identity profile] abbismom.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with your Top Chef observations, 100%.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Great minds think alike!

[identity profile] mielikki.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll take those asparagus ferns off your hands, if you like...

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
All yours! Do you want the sago too? It's delightfully primeval, but I want to plant mountain laurels there.

I have a shovel, but we would need some containers for transporting them.

[identity profile] mielikki.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Am I too late? I'd have to check out the sago and make sure I have a place for it, so maybe on that one! And buckets I've got.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It's still there - I haven't gotten around to dealing with them yet.

[identity profile] mielikki.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Cool; let me know when you want me to come get the ferns at least, and I'll re-home them.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Thursday or Friday would be good for me - I'm home and whatnot.

Stefan was brilliant technically, but had no soul.

And he was a dick.

I'm glad he didn't win. I thought he should have been bounced last week instead of Fabio.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
True, he was much more technical - he reminded me of Stephen from season one actually.

[identity profile] kuoirad.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Stephen at least had some passion, some soul, iirc - it's been a while since season 1.

Settlers and pie. this may possibly be my idea of (a very geeky) heaven.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It will be epic happiness!

[identity profile] melyndabelinda.livejournal.com 2009-02-26 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I will give you pie! Don't replace me!

It was good to see you this weekend. My aunt just sent me a bunch of the pictures she took from Sunday and us playing cards, it transports me back to college.

[identity profile] tsarina.livejournal.com 2009-02-27 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I had so much fun playing even if I was doing TERRIBLE that game. Sheesh I am rusty.
