Around 5:30 this evening, the sky changed from forbidding grey to a greenish evil tint. No matter how many times you see that it always seems strange. There was a burst of intense loud rain for about ten seconds. About ten minutes later, the hail started. It sounded like shot, especially on the back porch which has a roof of some composite polymer. A few pieces bounced and rolled over to my feet. Some were about the size of nickels, the others a little bigger than a quarter. I listened to the cacophony and hoped I wouldn't have to replace my roof before I own my house for a year. Now it's calmer, just a slow soft rain and intermittent thunder.

Hail storms are FREAKY, and seem to be happening more often. It's very disturbing.

I do not like them. They are too loud!

Tornado? That's what I usually think of when I hear the sky is green.

There's a tornado watch for another few hours, but none that I have seen yet.

You got lucky. Up on my side of town, tons of cars are thrashed...

Looking at the pictures, I feel like we escaped the worst of it. (We're up at Wells Branch) One of my friends just off Mopac and Parmer lost a windshield. It seems the biggest hail all landed just west of Mopac.

We've never had anybody look at our roof... or the gutters, for that matter, and since there are no big trees by us, hail is pretty much the only thing (other than bird nests) that can get in there to destroy them.

I figure if I see a wet mark on the ceiling, then it's time to call somebody.

True - your roof is way high up there. I wouldn't waqnt to have to get on a ladder to get up there myself.
