We purchased a grill the other day, one of those Black Weber domes that stands on three legs. I can say with certainty that grilled papaya is delicious, a more tropical cantaloupe. Mike made burgers and hot dogs. I made a cherry pie. It was good, in the cool spring air and sunlight.

How do ya'll grill your fruits...just let the natural juices do the marinating or something else? A friend of mine served up some delicious grilled mangos, cantaloupes, etc. and I've always meant to ask...

Oh, and btw, since you're my chef expert friend....do you have a good recipe for strawberry preserves?

The trick to grilling fruits is that you need to lightly brush the fruit's surface with some honey or light olive oil, so that it doesn't get stuck to the grill. The juices are pretty much all you need, but it can be fun to sprinkle cinnamon or ginger or another favorite spice on the fruit a few minutes before you grill.

Alas, I have never made strawberry preserves...
