Shooting at Holocaust Museum Kills Guard
I can't believe people are more worried about the prisoners in Guantanamo and our Muslim neighbors than the hate filled home variety terrorists in our backyards.
Back in 1998 I visited the Holocaust museum during a week spent in DC. What I remember most was the intense level of security, the overwhelming sense of horror and the peculiar smell of death in the room displaying mounds of shoes and other belongings left behind.
It's so hard to see these things - the murder of Dr. Tiller, the nasty tirade at KRXQ and a murderous rampage by a hateful old man - without wanting to strike out. In the face of such violence, it is hard to hold back. Part of me doesn't want to be the better person in these moments. I want to hit someone, hard and in the face.

Date: 2009-06-11 01:51 am (UTC)...I can volunteer my face! The right side is totally numb after a nerve related fiasco during my dentist appointment!
But in all seriousness, I felt sick to my stomach when I saw what happened in DC. Goign there was one of the most profound experiences I've ever had.

Date: 2009-06-11 01:57 am (UTC)Actually it isn't his fault. He was real good about it and stopped the moment he saw I was in pain, before I could even say anything. Said he could tell by my eyes/body language.
There was something with the nerve that despite the first shot numbing half my lower mouth, lips and gums and the second numbing even more it took a third shot that made my chin/jaw numb because a nerve involved apparently wandered in a way it shouldn't. Something I may or may not expound on if I ever get around to posting on lj any time soon=)

Date: 2009-06-11 05:55 am (UTC)There are bad apples of every variety sprinkled pretty liberally throughout society, who together with their allies - including the Muslim woman who came to protest at the memorial service held for the recruiter and the Bible-quoting filth that attends soldier funerals to "celebrate" God's "abandonment" of America for tolerating homosexuality - ought to be viewed with a jaundiced eye.
Hate has no preferred ideology.
Cheers...

Date: 2009-06-11 04:08 pm (UTC)I tell ya, when he finally dies, they're going to have to bury him somewhere totally secret (so secret even the family doesn't know) to prevent people from holding an ABBA-themed dance party on his grave...
