bits of saturday

At last, I finally have figured out why I loathe American Apparel so much. The miasma of their pants dropping, masturbating in front of reporters creep CEO must soak into their stores and advertisements. Their CEO has be named in at least four different lawsuits that allege he sexually harassed employees, runs around the office in his underwear, asked an accountant to cook the books and numerous other bits of bad, stupid behavior. (Not to mention when this guy was interviewed for Jane Magazine, he had one of his assistants perform oral sex on him in front of the reporter. What an ass hat.)

Yesterday we had brunch at the Alamo Drafthouse and watched Saved, which I sadly missed a couple weeks ago due to my gall bladder. It's a hilarious movie. It is now on my short list of acceptable cheerful films. I am going to start calling people Hilary Faye when they annoy me.

On the way home, we got stuck in traffic on 6th street. But then we saw this teenager wandering down the street playing guitar.

We're cat-sitting for some friends, which involves going over to provide foods and lots of pets. Last night we watched a movie on our friends' giant television so the kitties could get some lap time. (And also because it is an awesome television.) Here's a kitty.

I LOVE Saved! The first time I watched it, my mouth hung open in amazement that they captured so much of that world. I didn't go to a Christian high school, but I am a PK, and they hit some of that shit right on the nose.

Saved was such a funny movie. But that guy from American Apparel? I can't believe his dirty doings have managed to stay so quiet. You'd think there'd be more publicity, but since he has no shame I guess they don't bother?

I remember reading that Jane article when it came out...it was before I'd ever seen anything American Apparel IRL. Now that I live really close to his factories and a ton of LA sweatshops, I'm so torn. The other factories have no windows and work their employees horribly. I know some people who work at AA and love it. Oh, the choices of lesser evils...and what people can get away with in this world. I've still not bought anything at an American Apparel store; of course, it's easy for me to make this decision, because at a size 24 right now, their stuff does not fit me.
