Last night I couldn't sleep. When I did, the dreams were grim and terrible. Suicide, an abandoned horse, a pair of green shoes, a crowded movie theater. I feel puffy and wretched. My plans to go out and find some place to write were interrupted by the cats. Pumpkin escaped out the backdoor and I had to go chasing him all around the yard. It's hard to hold onto twenty pounds of flailing, angry cat.

One of them must have tried to get to the window by my chair last night. they upended my tiny (now dead) rosemary and knocked over my computer monitor. Nothing was broken, but I had to spend time pulling all the furniture around to clean up the mess.

I am just not in the mood.

i tried to skim and thought that you had dreamed of angry cats and cleaning.
i fell asleep grading papers today and dreamed that i was grading papers. the papers i was grading in my sleep were much better than the ones waiting for me when i awoke...
