We went off to see Jonathan Coulton last night. (The Antone's sign hilariously misspelled his name as Coltran, so there were a lot of cyborg jokes.) It was a lot of fun, because it is a sort of music that I haven't ever listened to much but is actually pretty good.

Not everyone in Texas is an asshole. David Bamberger is awesome. What he has done with his land is pretty inspiring stuff.

Betamax home video of the Challenger discovered. It was profoundly eerie to watch. One of my early childhood memories is watching the space shuttle explode on a television perched on a wheeled cart in my kindergarten classroom. I remember my teacher saying "Oh my god, oh my god." They sent us home from school early.

NY Times on UT Austin closing the Cactus Cafe. It makes me so angry. I don't believe that saving $66,000 a year is worth losing the Cactus. The university's attitude over this infuriates me to the point of incoherence.

I really want to try Sun Cups. (Peanut free and gluten free versions of a Reese's cup, made with sunflower butter in milk chocolate and dark chocolate versions.) Perhaps I'll drag myself to Whole Foods to look for some.

My head has hurt all day. Unrelenting, all encompassing pain.

I particularly liked the fact that the Coltran 2000 had to be recharged periodically and was not anatomically correct.

We were sitting on the right side of the stage, about 5 rows back. Where were you?

We were on the left side, three rows back on the angle. It seemed like everyone person around us was from NI.

Dave bought me sun butter once. He was giddy over it as that he's always despaired over my peanut allergy but I couldn't eat it. Something in the texture, more than the taste.

But then, that involves chocolate.

Everything is better with chocolate!

Ya know, I also have been fighting a headache all day, and so has a friend of mine. I think the government is using rays on us or something.

1) Man, even *I've* heard of the Cactus- couldn't they do a fundraiser, or have a PayPal site, or soemthing?

2) God, that Betamax tape is unsettling. I can't imagine having something like that in my house.

3) I hope you feel better soon!

The University has been very reluctant to accept any sort of outside help or plan - basically they have made a decision and don't want to listen to anyone else.

Bamberger's commitment to restoration advocacy is indeed inspiring.

That said, I'm undecided as to whether if offsets the karma stain of being associated with a chicken chain that serves "honey sauce" -- yup, high fructose corn syrup sold as honey.

'course, Church's is hardly unique:

Sigh. Don't mean to hijack your post. Fake honey just makes me sad. Time to find some Maru pages.
