I can't count the number of times I'm reading a review where someone has written "wallah!" or "walla!" lately. Unsurprisingly I see this mostly on Wal-Mart and Sam's Club's stuff. This is so petty but it makes me want to jump up and shout It's French you numbskulls, and it's voilĂ  damn it. Though apparently in common English usage the accent mark is dropped. For bonus points, wallah is a Hindi word for worker.

Seriously. I am a product of public education in a state that really doesn't care about providing quality education and even I know that.

In other news, yes, my back still hurts.

I leave off the accent mark because windows STILL, after a decade, doesn't offer an easy way (like Key Caps on Macs) to type characters with accent marks. Remembering the html for & hearts ; and & amp ; is really about all I'm good for.

You're right - making accent marks with standard keyboard settings is a severe pain.

At least you are aware that it is a word and not someone's made up sound. (Unless you are secretly writing fake reviews just to drive me mad :P )
