Tomorrow I am going to make a peach and strawberry pie. Hopefully it will be delicious. Currently I am making some vegetable broth for use in rice. Earlier this week I made red rice cooked in coconut milk for the first time. It was pretty delicious. I love colorful rice.

We ate dinner at Luby's, for comfort food. Mmm fried fish brick.

Susur Lee is the most awesome chef. I love him.

GUYS - Squishable Narwhal I really, really love this. I think my squishable rhino would love a narwhal friend... so tempting. I might go on a buying spree on my birthday.

I can't help it - the power of squish compels me!

I've decided my rationale these days is that Squishables are cuter and cheaper than fancy throw pillows for the sofa.

Just watched that ep today (so I could count it for Nielsen... we've got a tv diary for the next week). I kind of prefer the guy who made the grilled ham and cheese and pasta for Bart for the quickfire. Susur gives me the same vibe that Bobby Flay does (he of the "if you don't like cilantro, try it again") in that anyone who doesn't have his palate is wrong.

Today I decided to skip doing a cookout for Memorial Day, because the day I'd usually do it on is my actual birthday and I don't feel like making a lot of dishes for myself. Maybe I'll just buy an ice cream cake to share. Note to self: clean out a shelf of the freezer before then.

I know how you feel. I've spent so much time thinking about what to do for Mike's birthday cake that I feel sort of apathetic about making one for me. I might go get one from a bakery instead.

Waxman is my other favorite chef. I love how laid back he is and funny and thoughtful. That dish was very, very right for Bart and looked delicious.

We should do lunch sometime. I have a Groupon for Samurai Sam's that's going to expire in June, if you feel like trying a noodle bowl place.

I could never say no to a bowl of noodles. I think it is a physical impossibility. Mondays & Tuesdays are my days off for the rest of the month.

How about next Monday then, the 24th? I'm kind of dead today, and tomorrow I have to do the weeding and edging that I was meant to do today.

11:30? Where is this place?

11:30 is fine. and the site is http://www.samuraisams.net and there's only one in Austin, so putting in your zip code should bring it up.
