I feel vaguely annoyed about the annoyance I've seen over that writing meme. I find it hard to imagine that anyone takes internet quizzes seriously. Of course it isn't comprehensive, and it would be vastly interesting if they did have ways to expand their sample sets. Someone just made it for fun. The hostility I've seen about it just grates and maybe I'm just fatigued for being so angry. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Last night my insomnia was so awful and even medicine didn't help. I feel awful, sort of nauseous and exhausted and short on patience. There were a ton of things I intended to do to day, like have lunch with Mike and go to the post office and the store... ugh. Half the time I don't know if things are normal, normal aches and pains, or if I'm actually sick. I blame this on the half assed crazy way my parents dealt with illness during childhood. Also on my anxiety and cowardice in avoiding the doctor's office.

For some reason, we're getting Showtime. Ironically, we're canceling our cable.

People are genuinely annoyed? Cmon, folks, there's a lot more to be pissed off at in the world, if you want to be annoyed about something. Jeez.

Sorry about your insomnia. :(

The internet has ants in its pants lately. Le sigh.

I'm hoping it won't last too long, but it seems like a semi annual event now. There was a bad period of insomnia last summer, and then in spring.

The only upside, I guess, is that you don't have to be in to work at a specific time. Not that that helps much, I know.

Oh, jeez, people are taking that meme seriously?

*pets you*

Not too many people fortunately, but it did make me blink a couple times. Then I had a good laugh after I got over my own annoyance. Someone linked a piece of fic involving Lovecraftian gods and tentacle sex, and the meme told me it was like HG Wells, so that makes everything okay in my book. :D

Honestly? I just want to know how it makes its decisions since it struck me as kinda random.

I'm really curious about how they set it up, too. My knowledge of coding things is so limited and I'm just curious about what kind of work goes into making something like this function.

FWIW, because I have no idea what the tone of my comment looked like to anyone else, I just thought it was funny/silly that I'd get 4 vastly different authors.

Re: insomnia - (not know what medicines you tried) I have/use Lunesta when necessary. Do you want to try one 3mg tablet?

I also found it hilarious that plugging in different blog posts would get such cracky, silly results.

Lunesta doesn't work for me, and I end up with that awful side effect of my mouth tasting like death in the morning. I took some Ambien last night, which normally works, but did nothing.

They are really bitter. My body got used to Ambien within 5 days and it was no longer effective, so I was switched.

Whatever you do, say, think or feel, somebody somewhere is waiting to be offended by it.

True enough. You can't please or fool all the peoples all the time.

The day we start basing our self worth on internet memes is the day I throw my computer out the window though. Hahah.

It's not the meme people care about, from what I'm seeing and reading. Rather, they're irked by the author's direct claim of moral righteousness for being "colorblind" in his selection of potential results even as his so-called sources of names for the generator have plenty of women authors and authors of color listen long before the names who made it to the meme itself. Considering claiming color blindness it one of the more typical "fail" attitudes in race discussion, there's no surprise some people are rolling their eyes at his response and attitude to commentary (aka, mass deletion, even of complementary but accurate comments about his meme's result distribution.)

I hadn't seen any of that. Youch. I had not gone to the site of the journaling software, since I don't use a Mac. Most of what I've seen is some posts about how people must be tools if they think an internet quiz will tell them how great their writing is, which is a different can of worms.

Ah ha! I link to a post on that in my LJ if you want to know more. But I did sum it up neatly in my previous comment too.

And yes, that is a different can of worms indeed. Memes of that sort aren't to be taken seriously, yeah. :)
