its tuesday already

I am exhausted. I decided to get my exercise in early, otherwise I might not get it done. Then it was to the cash machine, and to therapy and to the store and crap I skipped the post office. Oops.

The roads seem especially dangerous today. I saw what looked to be the ending of a chase, a small car surrounded by three other police cars and a police motorcycle. On the way back from the store, I must pass through four light controlled intersections. At two of them I came upon large accidents involving trucks with axles ripped free and smashed cars that people struggled to clear away.

From the store I secured some provisions towards possibly making a korma dish with some meat and eggplant this week. They did not have the twenty pound sacks of jasmine rice in stock, alas, so I must make do with a smaller one. I also really love the tiny, single serving ice cream cups that HEB is now carrying. It means I no longer have to agonize over flavor choices and can buy five tiny cups in five flavors. It also means I am less likely to eat an entire pint of ice cream in one go. Also - hummus. Yum. Hummus and pita chips.

I need to do something with the two pounds of strawberries soon. I am thinking of strawberries in chocolate cream, maybe on top of brownies. Exciting! But I want to make them in the ramekins, so they are more individual portions. I am starting to accept there is no shame in acknowledging what I must do in order to moderate my eating habits. If I must make five individual dishes, then I must.

Yesterday's rain was a treat. It remains so humid and sticky today, that even in my air conditioned paradise pulling on jeans feels like trying to stuff myself in a sausage casing. Laundry, you must be conquered before work starts!

Enormous Sacks of Rice. It's what Fiesta is good for. :)

I love hummus! It's my go to snack of choice. I buy it practically every week.

Is there a Trader Joes in Austin yet? Every flavor of hummus I've tried from them has been freaking AMAZING!

Trader Joes is Austin's unicorn. I think they haven't worked up the steam to challenge Whole Foods on their home soil.
