For some perverse and wicked reason, the Austin Chronicle likes to have their annual Hot Sauce Festival on the last weekend of August every year. So at the hottest time of the year we all crowd into Waterloo Park to eat all the salsa and hot sauce ever. Yes. It is actually super fun, there is live music, you can eat tacos and have beers and snow cones and the whole thing raises lots of money and food donations for the Capital Area Food Bank.
This year I remembered to put sunscreen on my feet, so they did not burn. I also got to hang out with
redstapler for the first time in ages and ages. That was awesome.
Mike was off in Houston hanging out with Triangle people and small children, so I had dinner with
mielikki and many others. There was good conversation and burgers. When I got home at dusk, I realized I absorbed so much heat that I was transformed into a lizard incapable of higher thought or activity. I essentially laid down and read books all evening to recover.
Pre-trip laundry and errands are eating up all my time.
