It's been so long since I've written anything down, that I find it hard to begin again. But I think the break from journals and writing anything was good for my brain. I read things on my phone, but didn't feel compelled to note everything.

So I drove hundreds and hundreds of miles, over winding two lane country highways and interstates, through national forests and small towns and bigger cities, walked and stood all over several hotels in the middle of Atlanta. I saw a lot of costumes, and I saw one of my favorite actors at random. I spent time with people I love and met new people. I used my new name. I got blisters on my toes, and found a hundred dollar bill on the ground.

It was fun. I think the scale of it was too huge for me, as the constant noise of tens of thousands of people wore me down. Our hotel room was supremely comfortable though. But the system of picking up badges is one of the worst I've ever seen anywhere, for any kind of event.

After reading a lot of the character death paper, I finally got to see [livejournal.com profile] rm speak about it and damn. It is amazing.

After the humid, deep heat, we came home to the remains of a tropical storm flooding the city. At least it is cloudy and cooler. Driving in it was no fun though, as I could barely see the road.

That was the first time I really had the sense of a room reacting not to their own pain (either for particular characters or for non-fictional loss in their individual lives) in a way that was angry, but really rising up to be like "oh wow, yeah, I've felt things, and we need to be talking about this." I was so grateful. And it really reignited my belief that this needs to be a book project, although I remain, at this junction, unclear on just what form to pursue such in.

It was such a fascinating and intense feeling, in a room full of strangers. I don't even know what to compare it to, really.

Definitely a book. Because I want to have that, so I can take it off the shelf and read it during the end of summer every year.

I am - I am probably going to make a post sometime in the near future about it. Once my brain is free from post con fuzz.
