LOTR feast. candy, sanity

The annual Lord of the Rings feast is not happening at its usual weekend in November. It happens to fall on a day in December when Mike will be out of town, pursuing a dream of seeing Rammstein play a live show at Madison Square Garden. I have no idea why they moved the feast to December this year, but I am conflicted and unhappy about this arrangement. I don't know if I will end up going or not. Damn it.
I made Snickers. These are for us. Any trick-or-treaters will just have to eat boring mass produced candy since you can't give kids homemade things. I don't think I got the consistency right with my nougat and my caramel came out hard as rocks and prone to shattering. (How did I accidentally make brittle?) It seems better after some time in the fridge. But it is done and hopefully it tastes good. I wasted money buying peanut butter when I already had peanut butter, but other things I neglected to buy are expired. So much grocery fail today!
The Rally to Restore Sanity is tomorrow. I think restoring sanity is a good thing. Sadly I am working in the morning so I'll have to content myself with watching it streaming.
Mike is going with James to a haunted house this evening. I am not a fan of haunted houses. I don't like people leaping at me, shrieking or throwing things at me. I read about some haunted house recently where they just shut you in a room with a flash light and you have to find your way out of the building on your own. Terrifying.
I think I hurt my knee this morning while exercising. Hopefully it is just a temporary thing. My rage during the finale of Project Runway caused me to be more vigorous than necessary. Instead of wandering around in the dark being terrorized I think I'll soak my feet and play video games.
