Well. I said potato leek soup, but I may actually break down and make borscht. The full two day event of making stock from beef bones and short ribs, roasting beets, buttering vegetables and melding it together sort of thing. It's lots of labor but it is just so good.
I had a cup of some warm, red borscht at dinner. Then cabbage stuffed with pork topped with sausage and a piece of crispy bacon. Mmmm. Plus paprika laden sauerkraut. Then black forest cake! It was a birthday dinner for a friend and it was lovely.

I don't know why there aren't any decent Eastern European places nearby. We have everything else!
