I really need a dutch oven for all kinds of things. But what size? I'm leaning towards the 6 quart as a reasonable size for a two person household. But do I need more than one? Decisions, decisions.

"Customers buy this item with Le Creuset L9403-45 Stainless-Steel 2-Inch Replacement Knob by Le Creuset."

Does this mean that people buy one brand, and then replace the knob with that of another brand? Because that's hilarious.

It is totally true - you buy that knob and slap it on there and no one would know you didn't drop $500 on your pots! It's like sewing little alligators on all your polo shirts.

Heh, people buy it because on a lot of these, the original knob only goes up to a certain temperature, meaning you can't use the lid in the oven. The steel one is good for as much heat as the pot can take :)

That's less funny, but it makes more sense.

There's also this guy, though it doesn't say what the capacity is, dammit.

I have nothing useful to contribute because I've been side-lined by the words "dutch oven" and "knob."

It terrifies me that I'm paid to supervise people.

6 quart is a good size. I have an eight quart All Clad stock pot that can go in the oven, except it's almost too big for that. I have a six quart Le Creuset dutch oven and a three quart. I never use the three quart. Partly because our last apartment had a ceramic stove top and we couldn't use those pots there.

I have a great one that I picked up at Academy Sports. Cast iron, works like a dream. Also very cheap.

My husband got me one from HEB for Christmas. It's 5.2 quart, I think, cast iron and I love it.
