Day Nine: Two images that describe your life right now, and why.

My computer has finally stopped making the dreadful whirring sound that means one of the internal fans must be off balance with some collection of dust and cat hair. It was like listening to the engine of some small car straining to achieve consistent highway speeds.

At the drafthouse to see their Valentine's day feast: Eat Drink Man Woman

As always, we celebrate things with feast days at the Alamo Drafthouse. Tonight was Eat Drink Man Woman, one of Ang Lee's fine films. The staff outdid themselves, serving up five courses of incredibly good food during the show and many glasses of wine and tea. I could wax rhapsodic forever about the delicate crab dumplings, the duck on top of salad with pears, the comforting soup, the melting beef on fragrant rice or the sweet crunch of oranges and coconut bread pudding. It was so fantastic. I love that we can go there all the time. I met Mike at the original Colorado location and he proposed in the lobby of the Ritz. We practically live in the theater at times. (I think we went to three different shows just last week.) A lot of the staff was taking a well deserved smoke break out front so we thanked them on our way home. Those folks are bad ass. (Oh man that menu was good.)

Valentine's day presents: Large Hadron Collider tshirt and mini squishable panda.

We decided to get small presents for each other as well as stocking up on dozens of chocolate covered strawberries from Amy's. (They are so so so good. I ate a bunch of them for breakfast on Saturday.) I gave Mike a stress cupcake, made for squeezing at work and this hilarious shirt that models the Large Hadron Collider all the way around. He gave me a tiny panda, from Squishable's new set of minis. (I've named my panda Ping, because he's very bouncy.) I can't wait to add a bunch of minis to the group at home. I need to get around to constructing a hammock over my corner of the bed, so there will be more room for everyone.

Day One: Ten things you want to say to ten different people right now.
Day Two: Nine things about yourself.
Day Three: Eight ways to win my heart.
Day Four: Seven things that cross your mind a lot.
Day Five: Six things you wish you’d never done.
Day Six: Five people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever).
Day Seven: Four turn-offs.
Day Eight: Three turn-ons.
Day Ten: One moment

That company will have all my money, I swear. Heheh. I thought of you the other day - I was watching a movie and part was set in Madagascar and there were lemurs. You should use a picture of your Squishable lemur for the meme!

It was great. I really enjoy Ang Lee's movies because they show these complicated and yet so familiar relationships. Plus, the focus on food - oh man. Apparently they spent a week filming the opening sequence.

Here is the feast menu - So. Good. And yes, they serve the food during the film. The Alamo does awesome movie feasts, for individual movies and for marathon screenings like all three Lord of the Rings films or all the Back to the Future.
