threeplusfireLJ has been up and down a lot. This DDOS attack has been surprisingly long. I suspect it is related to the recent blacklisting of LJ comment notifications because of the spam problem, the mass deletion of suspected spam accounts, etc. It's all very tiresome. Our scifi future over run with tumbleweeds and ads and spam.
I spent a couple hours making pdf files of years of my LJ and formatting it into nicely bound hardcovers with Lulu. It is a pretty reasonable cost. So if everything goes to hell and catches on fire and explodes, at least somewhere I will have a record. Dear future archivist who will have to deal with all these - sorry.
I am actually seriously exploring building a blog somewhere else, which I never thought I would say. I intend to keep writing and reading here, even though some days I barely see twenty new posts even with Twitter aggregates and community posts. I haven't quite resolved how I will handle certain things, and nowhere else right now currently gives me quite the same option when it comes to friendslocked posts and the social circle built up on years and years of relationships.
In other news, the weather is unbearably nice. It was dark and stormy this morning, now sunny and windy. I've opened all the windows. Might as well enjoy the quiet season of $34 electric bills before real summer comes.
Sadly I did not win Think Geek's giveaway of a Virtual Boy from the 1980s. SAD.

Date: 2011-04-05 04:29 pm (UTC)I miss the friendships I had on here, but it is hard to ignore that LJ is a dying format. There are a few that moved over to Facebook (in a very different and casual form) and even a few who I am friends with offline.
I remember if I was away from the computer for a weekend I would have to dedicate a couple hours to catching up on Livejournal!
I had a Virtual Boy that I got at a yard sale, but it is long since gone now.
