coffee victory, minor
Apr. 21st, 2011 08:33 pmToday I managed to make a decent cup of iced coffee, Vietnamese style. I still need to either procure a good Vietnamese coffee blend or make my own, but I am one step closer. I really love the little cup top metal filter pots. I also have my condensed milk in a refillable squeeze bottle, which means no more messing with sticky cans in the fridge. A small, delicious victory.
I wish it would rain. The smoky, hazy air makes me loathe to go out. I'm going to have to start watering the yard. It's half dead and the summer hasn't even really begun. I don't normally care much about the yard so long as it isn't full of ragweed and snakes, but the massive fire on the other side of town was spooky. I'd like the yard to be slightly less prone to taking light if something happened. The fires around the state are monstrous things. You can see them from space apparently.
So I watched Game of Thrones and decided I might as well read them finally. I've put it off because who needs another unfinished epic lurking on the shelves but I wanted to know more of what happened after the episode ended. I've ripped through six hundred pages this week and it is pretty interesting. It even makes me want to revive my long dormant fantasy novel. (Damn it I should finish that DA fic that doesn't want to end happily even though I promised a happy ending.)
I am considering the idea of a standing desk, for variety. While I'm wishing, I want a decent Android tablet. I held a Nook last weekend and found it frustratingly small. While it could be hacked into a tablet, I find myself less enthusiastic than I had hoped. Also, I find I like the form factor of a physical book.

Date: 2011-04-22 02:36 am (UTC)The series tempts me to read the book. I started it when I was on bed rest, but between the drugs and the stress, I retained VERY little. I think I'm going to watch, then read, since I tend to be less disappointed in an adaption that way.
And awww, I'm sorry but I totally want a happy ending still.
(Even if it makes your life difficult)
I apparently managed to forget how to play in the last few weeks. Battles that should be easy are killing me dead. I'm working through Last Straw but I haven't even gotten to the two final battles. The stupid blood mage with endless summons of shades and the Pride demon keeps killing me and I'm not sure why. I think I changed up rings, belts etc and messed with my party's stats. Ooops?
