I really just love this painting so I had to bring it home.

It reminds me of the April 26th cloud that transfixed the city hoping for rain. There's something about the light, the pale sky and the the storm underneath. I have seen this moment more than once, driving across Texas.

Our home has a really random collection of art. I have some beautiful pinup girls from Krysztof Nemeth, one of them a special custom piece and the other was a present from Mike when we were dating. My friend [livejournal.com profile] sykii sent me prints of her photos, pears and the Temple of Dendur at the Met. I gave him a map of the early Soviet Union and we hung up it up with the giant Soviet posters I've had for so long. There are some paintings of cakes I found on Etsy, some pictures of weird fruit like the Lemonlope hanging in the kitchen and a print of Bat Smax by Eliza Gauger. There's a trilogy of posters from the Last Night at the Alamo Grindhouse with Quentin Tarantino, from one of the last shows we saw at the original Alamo location. There's that random painting Mike bought in Kerby Lane one day, right off the wall after dinner. We have a random collection of photographs, and the Fawkes & Codex poster. I suppose at best you could say our tastes are varied.

At times George's stuff gets so close to genre art (see the bluebonnet painting at top) but then he'll bust out a piece like that thunderhead.

It really did stand out. I have a fondness for landscape paintings but that cloud made it magical.
