The humidity is a cruel cherry on top of this miserable summer. My yard is mostly dead, burnt dry. I have to admit, I sneer at the handful of people determined to keep regulation golf course green yards. There's no HOA here and there's a drought. It makes no sense to use that much water for a yard you never actually use. (I've taken to rinsing out my coffee brewing pitchers in the yard, because I hate to pour the water down the sink.

I've felt so lax about writing here. Since we came home from our trip, I've felt out of sorts.

I am envious of your lack of HOA. Just today I had a lawn guy out to spray fungicide, trying to keep take-all patch from eating up the entire lawn. Last Thursday I got two fire ant bites while moving sprinklers around in my yard. I wish I could just let it all go dormant - it certainly does seem like not the best use of water.

Tho Lawn Guy said that some areas have mandatory watering twice a week, because they border open areas susceptible to wildfires and want to keep vegetation in the settled areas as wet as possible. I hadn't heard of that before, but in that case it does make sense.

I don't know how you put up with it. HOAs are the pits. :(

If Rick's company sells in the next couple of years, I'm seriously looking at moving somewhere around Balcones, or the Shoalmont area between 45th and Hancock, and neither of those areas should have HOAs. Which isn't the primary reason to move there, but it's up pretty high on the list.

One of our primary home buying requirements was no HOA. So it seems totally reasonable to me!
