how I spent Saturday

Yesterday was pretty awesome.
First I went to bake sales and came away with delicious stuff that has given me all sorts of ideas about things I want to learn to bake in the future. (Savory scones, yum) They raised over $12,500 yesterday all around town, which will go towards helping people affected by the terrible fires in Central Texas. Sometimes I really desperately need to feel like there's something good in the world and that helped.
I watched the most recent Project Runway and found it incomprehensible in many ways.
Last night we met new friends Misti & Nathan to see Master Pancake mock The Highlander. It's been a few years but oh the ridiculous continuity errors! I love the crazy 1980's fantasy film genre. The pre-show had clips of some fabulous examples that I must now dig up somewhere to watch, like Barbarian Queen. If I had a television channel all my own, I would run ridiculous fantasy films of dubious quality and all my favorites from 1930s-1950s Hollywood. That's what I watched after Saturday morning cartoons usually - Conan and then Bringing Up Baby or some variation.
Anyhow, afterwards we went to bars and had beverages on 6th. The last time I drank in bars on 6th was around the time Sarah moved away. But it was fun, especially when we moved to a place where we could sit on a patio and people watch. I like to call that game "Hooker or Sorority Girl? Homeless or Hipster?" and it is fun. We pondered the shoe choices of many a lady. We were even treated to a silly fight on the street involving a dude who took off his shirt to prove how manly he was in said fight. Then the police came and said dude was pretty easy for them to spot. Haha!
Then we all raced home before the bars closed so we wouldn't turn into pumpkins!
