watching the sun come up

Work was not so bad yesterday. I bought quite a stack of books. Someone got annoyed with me because VC Andrews is shelved in the horror section. Well, child abuse and incest counts as horror to me. Sheesh.

Bill Clinton is on the television. I wonder what he would have done during this, as President. Or Bob Dole. I just wonder. Right now anything else almost would be better.

Laying here with the laptop, watching the morning, the balcony doors open... I've been up for a long time now. The phone rang at 2am, and I had a panic attack that someone had died. Didn't sleep well after that, nightmares of shapechanging monsters. All unreal now, laying here on the couch with the blue sky and a soda.

The sky has been blue for days, just this azure glowing arc overhead. Hardly ever any clouds, and cool breezes.

Purchases from yesterday:
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, translated into Czech
A Boy named Goo, The Goo Goo Dolls
Mandy, by Julie Edwards
King Ink, by Nick Cave
The Master of All Desires, by Judith Merkle Riley
Fixed, Nine Inch Nails
Clumsy, Our Lady Peace
Crash
Welcome to the Dollhouse
Labyrinth

Maybe I'll just watch movies all day.

Wow, someone else who has seen this book. I picked it up while shelving the children's section, and since it had a character with my name I decided I should take it home. I like the story.

Julie Andrews Edwards, eh? I did not know that. Neat.

I read this book too, and I really really liked it, as I recall. Totally forgot about it til I saw this post.

Wow. And here I thought I'd picked up some totally unknown book just because the character had my name. How wild. We all must have really good taste.

Heheh, don't apologize. I think it's grand.

Since I shelve a lot of the children's fiction and literature at work, I find myself picking up random books. I think I shall start collecting the neatest ones, and one day someone will read them all for the first time.

Scary dreams and bad presidents.

You say anyone would have done better as president. I totally agree, but how did b00sh convince so many people otherwise? Ugh!

I had some nightmares last night, too. I was at my parents house, when I saw a plane flying low, heading for the ground. It was followed by two other planes. The first one hit just a street or two behind the house. We all ran to the back yard to see what we could see. When we went back up front, the neighbors directly across the street were scattering as half of their house had been leveled. There was a small fire across the street in a wooded area that I kept wanting to put out before the entire area burned down, but I had no access to water. I kept hearing more explosions. Some far away and some close by. I ran inside to watch tv to see what they were saying, and there were football games on all the channels. I was SO mad. I couldn't believe they'd let the games run even through this horrible attack that was going on. I stood in there with my parents and asked my father what he thought was happening. He didn't really know, but he knew it was something horrible. I couldn't decide if it was safer to stand outside where I could run if I saw something nearing us or inside where I might be safer from debris and fire. It was all so terrifying. The explosions were almost as constant as popcorn. At that point, I decided they must be bombing us, too, because they couldn't have had so many planes crashing around us. I kept wondering if it was isolated or nationwide.

I was so relieved when my dreams finally shifted to something more lighthearted. Still bizarre, but at least not terrifying.

I don't know. I blame the Devil, and the influence of money. Perhaps God has plans for the Smirking Chimp.

Scary scary dreams. :( My mom used to dream all the time of planes crashing into her home in Greece when she was a child.

the video store I used to work at housed ET in the horror section. It was technically Horror/Sci-Fi, but I still felt like such an idiot everytime I had to tell a customer that ET was in Horror.

I saw Svankmajer's Alice shelved in the kids section of a video store once. I bet it didn't last long there. ;)

Silly categories. I say put everything in alphabetical order!

VC Andrews

As long as I can remember, when I first started reading her when I was 15, she was in HORROR!!!

And now, even moreso, as she is writing from uh, the GRAVE.

Ugh, yes. How long has she been dead?!?! And those books just keep coming out.

What tacky ghostwriters.
