It's a lovely day. I ran my robot friend to clean some floors this morning while I cleared off the kitchen table. I made shortbread that smelled divine, and then I covered it in chocolate, almonds and mini marshmallows. Sort of like a rocky road cookie. The most fun part was pulling out the mini torch and toasting the marshmallow tops just a little bit.

Between this recipe and my successful bison cooking, I feel like I've gone up a level in my cooking skills. Ding! Next level unlocked! It's nice to feel like I'm progressing, learning new things. Later we're going to make these German butter cookies with a recipe that requires, I kid you not, two pounds of butter.

There is a kitty sleeping in a sunbeam by the door.

I am really grateful for my absurd, strange life. I have been places I never thought I would be.

Well, I did my first from-scratch dressing, so I hope I go up a level as well! Bird is in the oven and I'll make green beans with tomatoes and bacon as well as glazed carrots later.

Any new from scratch recipe has a major experience boost! Yum. I think dressing & stuffing dishes are my favorites.

So tasty! And then we made eight million German butter cookies, which are an unholy alliance of Old World cookery combined with Southern love of butter because one batch requires two pounds of butter.
