candy!

Our mail boxes are clumped along each block, and there's a seperate cabinet where they can store parcels & leave a key in your box. Today I drew Key #4, knowing there was a package potentially containing candy waiting for me. The problem was, Key #4 was bent. Seriously bent, like some big brown Russian bear from a circus had used it to clean his teeth between shows. I spent ten minutes leaning all my weight on the box, trying to shove the key into the lock while simultaneously bending the key back to something reasonably straight without breaking the grimy thing or cutting my hand open on its rusted ring. I was mad that the parcel ended up in evil box #4 with its cursed, curving key.

Finally the damn thing opened. I took my astonishingly heavy parcel back down the block.

OH MY GOD THE SUGAR

I cut the tape, wondering what that pink thing could be - it's strawberry Pocky! And oh look at all this candy! OMG MARSHMALLOW FLUFF FOR REAL! MAPLE SYRUP! CANDY CANDY CANDY CANDY OH MY GOD ITS FULL OF FERRERO ROCHER! PEPPERMINT BARK ALL MINE ALL MINE NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM,,,,

Would you believe I have never actually eaten a fig newton? But I am going to now! Maybe after I work through all the delicious candy. Because there is so much candy. SO MUCH CANDY. (AND YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS, LYCHEE CANDY!)

Thank you, eleventy million times kindness_says for my awesome Yuletide candy box. I will use the power of the sugar within to fuel some mad fic writing!

oooh, enjoy the bounty. there's nothing neater than a box of treats, and it sounds like you got some cool ones!

fig newtons are tasty - as a kid, they were actually one of the few cookies my mother would purchase, so I probably ate your share *g*

Newton is my hometown! And all the Asian noms (I think) are, like, childhood stuff of mine, mostly. Actually I was so upset because I was trying to find this stuff that's like marshmallows with jelly inside? but I could not locate them; I guess they are not at the supermarket anymoar. /cry

Yes! I'm glad you're excited about the Fluff, 'cause that's local, and the SRS SYRUP (Grade B! which I don't personally eat that often, but is very New England, apparently). You should make maple butter! And stuff. Omnomnom. I couldn't find actual maple candy; that was upsetting.

What else... Like I think I wrote in my note, I wanted to give you stuff by NECCO, 'cause they don't just do the gross wafers they also have like Skybar and all that kinda stuff that is edible... and I was going to be like CANDY BUTTONS (oh man, childhood 1800's Day candy!!!) and Mary Janes and Baked Beans and touristy special-shaped candy and stuff but...as you can see, it would not fit in the medium-sized box already; I had to use the large. XD whoops

OH LOL and apparently I wanted to stick tea in there (looking at my list now) and totally forgot about that.

ANYWAY YAY I'm glad you're so happy :D :D :D :D :D
