I'm going to write this meme, because I feel like it might be the only way to get something down. I'm okay. I'm just waiting on blood work from my new doctor's office and there are some concerns. It's anxiety provoking, but I don't really want to get into it until we have more information about what exactly is going on with my fucking internal organs. Seriously, I've had the worst luck with the horrible things and I think that means my absolute loathing of admitting that my body contains organs and not machine parts is justified.
All I can think about it how much I want a cigarette. Which is crazy, because I haven't smoked in forever. It's an artifact of stress, I know. Okay, so memes have to take the place of cigarettes. And since there's really nothing to be done, feel free to just post pictures of Daniel Craig or Alan Rickman or Minecraft stuff or shiny things.
1. Make a list of 5 things you can see without getting up.
A pair of amber earrings from Wyrding Studios
The bathouse outside the window
A woefully outdated textbook about artificial intelligence
My empty coffee cup
300 by Frank Miller
2. What color is your hair?
Dark brown, almost black? With two lonely silver hairs.
3. What did you want to be as a child?
A writer. Ha ha.
4. What's was the last movie you've watched in the theatre?
They showed the delightful Sense & Sensibility last weekend at the Drafthouse, with tea and sandwiches and scones and cakes. You know, the one with Alan Rickman.
5. What do you hear right now?
The water in the cat fountain, the fans in my computer.
6. What's your favorite guilty pleasure treat?
Taking a hot bath, eating ice cream while in the bath and reading a favorite book. Seriously.
7. What are you thinking about right now?
Blood.
8. Write the first word that comes to mind.
Robot.
9. Dog person or cat person?
Probably cats.
10. If you came across £2000 (or other currency) would you keep it or turn it in?
Well, I would be confused about finding so much foreign currency here. I would probably keep it and try to use it for good things.
11. What was the last thing you bought?
Groceries, yesterday.
12. If you could afford to go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
The Czech Republic, Scotland, Hong Kong, Japan, Lake Baikal and some nameless island with empty beaches and clear blue ocean.
13. Where do you see yourself in 2 hours?
Playing Minecraft.
14. What book are you currently reading?
I've started two books recently and neither of them are holding my interest AT ALL, which is a weird state of affairs. So I'm going to just put them away and stand in front of my bookcase staring for ten minutes while I decide whether I want to re-read something I enjoy like Faye Weldon, Edith Wharton, Josef Skvorecky or William Gibson. Or I might go to Half Price and stare at their shelves instead.
15. What are you doing this weekend?
I took tomorrow off, so I'm considering my weekend to start tonight. Seeing a ballet version of Moulin Rouge, seeing They Might Be Giants and Jonathan Coulton, playing a lot of Minecraft, going to the farmer's market, taking a class on how to make mead.
16. If you could play any musical instrument, which one would you play?
I played french horn for three years at school and I rather loved the sound of it. I would love to go back to it.
17. A quote that you like.
"Death from above!" - Starship Troopers, by Heinlein
18. What are you doing tomorrow?
Eating sushi for lunch, buying mead making supplies, seeing TMBG & Coulton rock out
19. What were your favorite childhood activities?
Reading, reading, reading, writing, climbing a tree to read in peace, playing Nintendo, hiding a flashlight in my room so as to read after bed time, writing, building elaborate dioramas, reading.

Date: 2012-02-03 01:10 am (UTC)"The Submission" by Amy Waldman. I'm about halfway through right now and I'm really, really enjoying it. It's making me really uncomfortable, but not in a bad way. It's about 9/11, so buyer beware.
Also, *Hugs*

Date: 2012-02-03 09:11 pm (UTC)I bought a book that is diary entries from hundreds of years of New Yorkers, like a chain through time. I'm super excited about reading it.
