First - a million thank yous and high fives and love to everyone who has commented/emailed/called and such. I want to go through and write individual notes at some point but I'm still kind of tired and loopy and yeah. But it does mean so much to me that so many people have reached out with support and friendship and love. I am so grateful sometimes for the future, for the internet's far flung web. I don't know how I would do anything without you.

This morning we had lovely room service breakfast. (And can I say, the Holiday Inn is really one of the best places in the world to stay. I recommend them. The room service coffee was actually top notch.) Then off to the doctor to check up. I was so nervous about them taking off the bandages. But those crazy, crazy pre surgery vitamins seem to have really done the work! I have hardly any bruising or swelling, which is mind boggling. My pain is very manageable. The hardest parts seems to be doing stuff without moving much of my upper body at times, and not being able to lift things. Even dealing with the surgical drains is not so bad, though I feel like some walking vampire snack dispenser. The suggestion to attach them to a shoestring round my neck was genius though.

Lots of medicines and vitamins to take. I have to write everything down so I can keep track, because it is just so much stuff. But! I am surprisingly free of any nausea, thanks to the incredible anesthesiologist. I don't know what he did, but it was good. I actually feel more human than I did after any previous surgery. I guess when you're paying for all this out of pocket and not with an insurance company, they don't skimp on the drugs.

I keep putting my hands on my chest, blown away by the sudden absence of weight. It's so good I could weep.

The drive home felt lovely. It's a nice day, just warm enough. The sky is robin's egg blue and decorated with puffy white clouds like sheep.

I'm so glad to hear it went well for you.

(Sorry I didn't say anything sooner, I'm in the middle of moving, and, well, BOXES)

So glad to hear it went well. It must be such a relief to have that weight gone... (I'm a little envious, I must admit).

This is the actual pack of viatmins I received from my surgeon. (Vita Medica Recovery Support program) I kind of thought a hundred dollar box of vitamins was a bit ridiculous at first, but seeing how little bruising and misery and I'm experiencing so far, I am in awe.

but NOW
