If you ever told me I would cry listening to Coldplay perform a song, I probably would have laughed at you. But this really just did make my eyes water. It's weird to imagine "(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)" done this way. But hearing the crowd screaming along at the end really makes it for me.

The Beastie Boys used to be one of those things I would see on MTV that was so foreign to my regular musical experiences as a child. I grew up with parents who listened to Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and Led Zeppelin. So the music was strange and a little scary and off putting, but it was compelling too. I remember the video for "So What'cha Want" being in heavy rotation and how I would listen to the entire song even though I was sure I hated these noisy shouting dudes. I didn't really appreciate them until I was older.

Now we're all older, and it makes me sad. Godspeed MCA.

Oh. My. God. I haven't heard So What'cha Want in AGES. I freakin' loved it even though I wasn't a BB fan. Thanks for the memories! I feel really old now though. :)
