What a wonderful October day! Wide blue Texas sky, a breeze, sun, and good company.

Spent my afternoon with the incomparable Cate. I finally have a good reason to break the commandment of my driving, Thou Shalt Not Drive on IH-35. Toured the O'Reily's Justice Center in all it's tacky paint job glory. Ate a delicious lunch at a nifty little Mexican restaraunt, and caught up on life. Talked about eBay and men and crazy roommates and karma.

Then Cat showed me what is possibly the coolest store I have ever visited. The Paper Bear, a seemingly endless array of toys, candy, papers, cards, jewelry, candles, soaps, decorative home things and still more. A giant store of stuff we like. I could have spent all day in there! They even had a giant Russian Navy Flag, one that would fly on a big ship! We bought silver sequin tiaras, and a handsome guy in line noticed we were princesses. Hee! I bought a bright blue wig, a bouncy ball and some candy sticks.

Just down the sidewalk is a little Pagan store, another thing I never expected to find in San Marcos. They have herbs and nifty little items. I saw a cool statue of Isis, and a Kephra pendant. Lots of lovely daggers and jewelry. Cate picked up a beautiful star ring, and I got a watercolor silk scarf to wear to Miss Natalie's wedding in a few weeks.

Next we took pictures in the pumpkin patch, so everyone can see the Texas tsarinas in all their fall glory. I picked out a round, jack o' lantern pumpkin for Cate to take home.

Such a nice day! Even driving home on 35, I wore my tiara and sang along to the radio. Several people caught in the traffic looked over and smiled, so perhaps I brought a little brightness into rush hour.

hehe yeah they can get moldy if you let them sit. :P

It's pretty easy. You get a nice pumpkin that sits upright without too much wobbling. Either a round one or a tall one is best. They you cut off the top, like a lid, and scoop out all the seeds. Then you draw your design on the pumpkin, a face or a picture. Cut out the design with a sharp kitchen knife or a good x-acto blade. Then you pop a little candle inside and put the lid back on. Very fun!
